Manchester’s taxi licensing committee was able to view the PCO-approved Mercedes Vito taxi on 29th September. The Committee has now confirmed that because the new Vito Taxi meets the high standards exacted by London’s Public Carriage Office that the new Mercedes taxi would be adopted onto the Manchester taxi choice list.Manchester has over 1,000 taxis operating in the City and until now all have been either the TX type taxi or the Metrocab. Commenting on the adoption of the new Mercedes, Chairman of Manchester’s Taxi Owners Association George Sims said that “With the introduction of the new Mercedes Taxi into Manchester, It’s great that our drivers now have a choice of taxi. The Mercedes is clearly and excellent taxi with a lot of benefits for the driver. So, I expect quite a few of them will be seen on our roads during the coming months.”Steve McCarthy, who is the Sales Director at KPM in London says “The new Mercedes Vito Taxi is already a common sight on the streets of London where it has been quickly adopted by both drivers and passengers alike as a recognisable London cab. I’m confident that Manchester will soon be following in the same way!”  For more information contact Steve McCarthy or any member of the KPM sales team on 020 7375 1179.
